Lori Midson is off on a mouth-watering mission: She’s winging her way to New York City, where she’ll attend tonight’s dinner at the James Beard House being prepared by the Five — which now comprises ten local chefs.
The Five concept got its start in 2008, when Leigh Sullivan decided to create the DenverFive, a crew of Colorado’s most influential chefs who would help put our state’s regional cuisine on the national culinary map.
Among the locals who’ll be cooking Colorado-centric cuisine in the Big Apple tonight: Matt Selby of Vesta Dipping Grill and Steuben’s, Brandon Biederman of Steuben’s, Tyler Wiard of the Cherry Creek Elway’s, Jamey Fader of Lola and the Big Red F Group, Enrique Socarras of Cuba Cuba, Mark DeNittis of Il Mondo Vecchio, Bryan Dayton of Oak at Fourteenth, and Paul Reilly of Encore. (Definitely not included: Troy Guard of TAG, one of the founding Five chefs — before he and Sullivan split.)
Midson will be tweeting the action, then dishing up a complete account upon her return.
