Toshi and Yasu Kizaki, the owners of the beloved Sushi Den at 1487 South Pearl Street, weren’t content with putting a world-famous sushi restaurant in the heart of Denver’s South Pearl neighborhood. In August 2007, they expanded their empire by opening Izakaya Den across the street at 1518 South Pearl, earning more kudos from around the country (and Jason’s Sheehan’s Best New Restaurant in the Best of Denver 2008).
Now comes word that the brothers have bought the building just south of Sushi Den that held Seams Like Olde Times, the longtime costume shop that’s most recently held Footprints of Asia, a furniture store, for a fast million-plus — with plans to turn it into a combo Japanese deli/fish market.
Sometimes raw ambition pays off.
