The Republican Study Committee of Colorado will hold a summit on illegal immigration at the Capitol today, with an agenda packed with heavyweight speakers and issues (violence, “competitive challenges for businesses”) — but no mention of the man who’s kept the discussion of illegal immigration going in this state: Tom Tancredo.

Then again, when the five-term congressman and one-attempt presidential candidate (on an immigration-heavy platform) ran for Colorado governor — and collected over 36 percent of the vote in just a three-month campaign — it wasn’t as a Republican. Unhappy (to put it mildly) with his party’s choices, Tancredo made a run for the American Constitution Party.

But even if Tancredo isn’t speaking at the summit that runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Old Supreme Court Chambers in the State Capitol — “wasn’t asked,” Tancredo confirms — you can still listen in to the debate between “Ask a Mexican” columnist Gustavo Arellano and Tom Tancredo that we hosted two weeks ago, as well as read transcripts from the session.
