Politicians were out in force at the Arapahoe County Republicans fundraising roast of former congressman Tom Tancredo on Saturday. John Suthers, the only GOP member currently elected to a statewide office. Mike Coffman, who moved from a statewide office to fill Tancredo’s seat in the Sixth Congressional district. U.S. Senate candidates Ken Buck, the DA in Weld County, and Ryan Frazier, Aurora councilman. Even Dan Caplis, a fellow Tancredo roaster, who admitted he’s not officially out of the Senate race — yet — although he was never officially in it.

Notable by their absence: Bob Beauprez, the former congressman who lost a gubernatorial bid to Bill Ritter in 2006, and is now considering getting into the Senate race. And both Josh Penry and Scott McInnis, who are vying for the Republican nomination to run against Ritter in 2010.

But at least one gubernatorial candidate was on hand: Dan Maes, the Evergreen businessman who’s a longshot in the race, and acknowledged it by suggesting that many in the audience were asking “Who’s Dan Maes?”
