Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

This week's food adventures included a slippery, savory stew from Akwaba Restaurant in Aurora's Afrikmall; cricket tacos at Linger; and Spanish morcilla sausage, which can be found at a number of Denver-area restaurants and markets. But burgers and sausages were off the menu — at least temporarily — as sausage griller Wurstkuche and the family-run Jimmy's Urban Bar & Grill both threw in the towel (although you can still grab our choice for Best Hamburger, the Ditka Burger, at Jimmy's through Sunday).

In other news:

Noodles & Company, 4590 Leetsdale Drive

Thai Basil (closed for remodel), 540 East Alameda Avenue

Arvada Beer Company, 5600 Olde Wadsworth Boulevard
Jimmy's Urban Bar & Grill (Sunday), 1530 Blake Street
Wurstkuche, 2036 Broadway

*Or earlier, and not mentioned in a previous Second Helping.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
