Through the Great Recession and the COVID-19 pandemic, Wu's Garden always prioritized treating customers like family, too. "I’ve been working in this kitchen for the past 25 years," he says. "I’m the head chef, so everything goes through my hands. What I know and what we’ve always tried to do is provide the customer with quality food and friendly service. That’s how we survived. I built this restaurant, and I was planning on staying here for the long term.”
But at the end of service today, Wu's Garden will close its doors. And in their comments on the Westword Facebook post of the news, readers wonder why this beloved spot is going. Says Randy:
Their food is great! Why are they closing?Responds Jacqui:
Because the landlord chose not to renew Wu’s lease, which they have every right to do!Counters Ray:
Because landlords have all the rights, tenants have noneAdds Rebecca:
Thanks for covering this! Robert's Deli has already expanded once, why isn't the landlord being taken to court?Notes Mike:
Living in the area and eating at both Wu’s and Robert’s Deli, I much prefer Wu’s for quality and service. Sad to see them go, as they were our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area.Offers Ellen:
I've been coming here for years and I always order the same thing. It reached the point where Kim knew what I wanted before I even sat down.Wonders Jeff:
Now where am I going to get the best pineapple pork fried rice I've ever had? I really hope they find a new location.Concludes Benjamin:
