Country Time BBQ has been one of our favorites over the years: We awarded it Best Barbecue in Denver in 2012 and included it on our list of the ten best smokehouses in town earlier this year. While the takeout-only shack wasn't much to look at, the barbecue pits out back, the ever-present cloud of blue-gray smoke and the mountain of split firewood were all markers of pork and beef done right. Unfortunately for residents of the southwest suburbs, Country Time is now closed.

A call to Country Time's phone number verified that while Lawrence and Jennifer Barkers will no longer be serving smokey and delicious ribs, pork shoulder and brisket from the West Hampden Avenue spot, a new location is in the works -- they're just not quite ready to reveal it yet.

In the meantime, Country Time fans can still get their fix from the mobile barbecue wagon that sets up regularly near the Jefferson County Courthouse in Golden.
