But the big news so far this summer is the vibrant gourmet mobile vending scene that's rolled into town -- and doesn't have a real address. So many chefs/restaurateurs are announcing plans to hit the pavement with their goods that it's hard to keep track.

Want to get a taste of the street life? Several of these vendors will be at Civic Center Eats today from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Laura Shunk was Westword's restaurant critic from 2010 to 2012; she's also been food editor at the Village Voice and a dining columnist in Beijing. Her toughest assignment had her drinking ten martinis and eating ten Caesar salads over the course of 48 hours. She still drinks martinis, but remains lukewarm on Caesar salads.
