Last month, the Santa Fe Tequila Company at 901 West Tenth Avenue (shown above)abruptly closed its doors -- shortly after opening a second outlet in Littleton.
Although Jason Sheehan wasn't a big fan of the original spot, which was close to empty when he visited it this summer, he's no fan of closed restaurants, either.
And now word has come our way that the surviving location at 2630 West Belleview Avenue is having severe problems -- and skipping paychecks. So far, our calls to management have gone unreturned. But then, the restaurant's website still says the Denver location is just "temporarily closed."

Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
