Alex Seidel worked on his concept for Mercantile Dining & Provision for three years before he finally opening the combination restaurant/market/bar in the renovated Union Station in September. Gretchen Kurtz just reviewed Mercantile, and says it's a definite winner. Seidel's new place is three times as big as Fruition, the award-winning restaurant he opened on Sixth Avenue seven years ago. And according to one reader, it's even better.
Mercantile Dining has blown me away on three separate visits. I didn't think they would be able to keep up the food quality they established at Fruition but they have surpassed it.Have you eaten at Mercantile? At Fruition since it reopened after a mini-renovation this month? Which do you like better?
