Reader: Where's the Best Barbecue in Denver? I Haven't Found a Good Rib Joint!

Ask people for their favorite barbecue spot in the metro area, and the conversation immediately gets hot. But as the Best of Denver 2016 approaches, one reader wants to get right to the meat of the matter. Asks Pat:

Where's the best barbecue? 'Cause I'm from the hood, and I have not found one rib joint yet — and I've been here four years.

For starters, here's our recent list of the Ten Best Barbecue Joints in Denver, with first place going to our winner in the Best of Denver 2015: Wayne's Smoke Shack in Superior. (Yes, for the record, we consider anything in metro Denver fair game for awards.)

And Westword readers just elevated these five 'cue spots to finalist status in the Best of Denver 2016 Readers' Poll:

Yazoo BBQ Company
Russell's Smokehouse
Owlbear Barbecue
Moe's Original BBQ
Boney's Smokehouse BBQ

You can still vote for your favorite among these five in our Best of Denver 2016 Readers' Poll. And remember, Westword food writers will be choosing our own Best Barbecue winner, which will be revealed when the Best of Denver 2016 hits the streets — and this website — on March 31.
