On Sunday, August 14, Westword will host Tacolandia, a celebration of the city's street tacos in all their tortilla-wrapped glory. Join us at Sports Authority Field to enjoy unlimited samples from many of Denver's top taquerias, cantinas, Mexican restaurants and food trucks, including Taqueria El Trompito.
El Trompito is a family-run Mexican restaurant with north and south locations to serve the metro area: the original at 1540 West 70th Avenue and the newer eatery at 10021 East Hampden Avenue. Both locations prepare some of the best tacos in town from slow-cooked meats like lamb, beef barbacoa and carne al pastor. And don't miss the salsa bar for added bursts of flavor from a rainbow array of housemade concoctions.
You'll have to come to Tacolandia to find out what El Trompito will be adding to the fiesta. Tickets are $30 for general admission, which gets you unlimited food samples and entertainment from 4 to 7 p.m.; a $65 VIP ticket allows early entry into the event at 3 p.m., plus two Estrella Jalisco beers and plenty of surprises...including food from chef Jamey Fader of Lola.
Get your tickets now at westwordtacolandia.com. (If you hurry, you might still be able to snag a fiesta four-pack: four GA tickets for just $100.) For you procrastinators out there, tickets will be available the day of the event at the Broncos BoxOffice at Gate 5 — without the fees from TicketMaster.
