The development will have two restaurants, one on the ground floor and one on the roof. The names and concepts haven't been announced, but expect them to meet the high standards set at every kitchen where Lockwood has worked. Except, maybe, Lockwood's first job at a Boulder restaurant — as a busboy, when he was fourteen.
In the two decades since that entrance into the world of dining, Lockwood has traveled the globe, from California and Hawai'i to New York and Europe, with stints at the French Laundry in Yountville, California, and The NoMad in New York City. He was executive chef at NYC's Eleven Madison Park, where he managed a staff of over 100, earned three Michelin stars and made the top slot on a World's 50 Best Restaurant list.
When Eleven Madison Park closed temporarily because of the pandemic, Lockwood decided to move back to Colorado, where he opened Basta in Boulder; he then became a consulting chef for Benzina, an Italian restaurant in Denver that closed at the end of May.
That wasn't his only consulting gig: Lockwood also consulted on season three of the Emmy Award-winning FX series The Bear, in which Jeremy Allen White plays a Chicago chef.
Now, the intrepid entrepreneur is back on the Denver dining scene.
The 100,000-square-foot, mixed-use 2nd & Adams development is financed by Magnetic Capital, a Colorado outfit, in partnership with Boka Restaurant Group. Chicago-based Boka has worked with noted chefs on nearly thirty projects, each one unique; this is the group's first foray into Denver. Boka chef/partner Lockwood will oversee the creation and execution of at least two distinctive restaurant concepts in the 100,000 square-foot project.
2nd & Adams broke ground last year and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
