One of the basic rules of press releases is that they represent a release of information to the press, right? But one of the latest missives to issue from the Denver Police Department keeps info divulging to a minimum, offering a reward for information leading to the capture of a so-called “pattern offender” being sought by the sex-crimes unit. But what exactly were these pattern offenses, which reportedly took place in an area bordered by 1st Avenue, York Street, 13th Avenue and Speer Boulevard? No mention — and in a 9News story on the subject, DPD spokesman Sonny Jackson barely elaborates, saying only that the man has been “sexually aggressive.” Presumably in a bad way. The Sex Crimes Unit of the Crimes Against Persons Bureau identified a possible pattern offender active in the City and County of Denver Area. Detectives identified 4 cases that may involve the same suspect occurring between June 12 and 13, 2009 and a fifth occurring April 8, 2009.
The area of concern is primarily 13th Avenue on the north, 1st Avenue on the south, York Street on the east and Speer Boulevard to the west.
The suspect description in these cases is as follows:
Hispanic male
Stocky build
5’5″ to 5’9″ in height
Black hair — possibly spiked
22-26 years of age
Had Spanish accent in some cases
Possible mustache
Wore a baseball cap in some of the incidents
