Its a really fun event, enthuses media contact Natalie Fandrey. Its a great way to get people involved in a ski-related event; we get a lot of engineers and architects and just kids who work on the mountain and want to build dummies.
It works like this: Participants (limited to 25 teams) build a dummy, attach it to skis or a snowboard and launch it off a giant on-snow jump; teams are judged for distance, air, creativity, takeoff, landing and crowd response. Past dummies have included toilets, stoves and military tanks -- and with a $5,000 first prize this year, the entries are bound to be more outrageous than ever. Visit www.vailsnowdaze.com.
