Listening to this EP makes me wonder if I'm not missing the gene for liking the kind of music you hear on the radio. I mean, I can identify that these melodies are appealing, that the sound and vibe are contemporary and that this would sound right at home playing on the radio — the radio playing in someone else's car, that is, because I would never listen to that station. I can't fault the musicianship, which is tight and effective, and while I find the lyrics banal, that's radio music for you. Somehow it manages to be solid but not remarkable, catchy but not compelling. For me, it just doesn't work — but don't worry, guys, that should mean you'll make millions, because that's exactly the way I feel about the Fray.
