The Pseudo Dates, one of the most promising pop bands of recent years, broke up last year without making an announcement or organizing a final show. Luckily, primary songwriters Nathan Brazil and Suzi Allegra finally came to their senses and realized they wrote great, even timeless songs together, and they formed a new band with some mutual friends. With a name that is possibly a reference to either a passage from The Iliad or the imagery of William Blake, Fingers of the Sun (due at the Meadowlark on Friday, July 2) picked up where the Pseudos left off with an evolving fusion of indie pop and psychedelia as tuneful as it is moving. If anything, the new project has inspired Brazil and Allegra to step up their songwriting acumen, and displays an impressive maturing by two already talented songwriters.
