Buntport Theatre Company has gone back in time nine years to re-create its first production, Quixote. "It's the play that the company really formed around," says actor Brian Colonna. "We performed it in college together and then took it around to fringe festivals." Echoing Cervantes's Don Quixote, the play follows the adventures of an eccentric professor and his student "sidekick," who travel the world trying to make literature interesting; at the same time, a university committee is trying to stop them. The actors create each set using only chalk, three old-fashioned chalkboards and imagination.

Quixote opens tomorrow at 8 p.m. at Buntport, 717 Lipan Street, and continues through Sunday. However, today starting at 8 p.m., Buntport will stage another blast from the past, an episode from the second season of the troupe's first live sitcom, Magnets on the Fridge. Following a group of friends who start a book club, the Magnets crew goes to a showing of Quixote put on by a local theater company – and is greatly disappointed. "This really gives us a chance to laugh at ourselves," says Colonna.

Admission to Quixote is $16, or $13 for students/seniors; tickets for Magnets are $7. For more information, call 720-946-1388 or go to www.buntport.com.
Thu., Dec. 2, 8 p.m.; Fri., Dec. 3, 8 p.m., 2010
