Jack N Grill - One restaurant that knows it's "Chile," not "Chili"

As native New Mexicans, we can attest to the fact that Jack N Grill is the best New Mexican food in Denver - maybe in Colorado. And the reviewer is right: New Mexican green chile is not made with flour, so it is not a "sauce" like some folks seem to expect. To each their own, but we love Jack n Grill because it tastes like home.

One of the best things about them is that you can ask for a taste of the chile that day and if it's not hot enough, you can ask them to make it 1X, 2X, 3X or "nuclear." They don't make it hotter by adding jalapenos, either . Service is always busy, but always friendly.

Their $2 breakfast burrito to go is the best value in Denver and a great way to start your day - if only they would open at 6:30 AM instead of 7 so I could pick them up during the work week.

Haha, well THIS ISNT NEW MEXICO!!!!!!!!! CHUBBYS SANTIAGOS Etc. make the Taste of COLORADO. not to down jack n grill, i have been there and the food wasgood, unlike the service, this should be the best newmexico style green chile

too bad the management contenues to be poor year after year. only go if you can wait awhile. and ask for tyour check.. and sometimes reorder.

You crazy? Green Chili is a pork sauce. Go to PUEBLO for some REAL green chili. Just roasted chilies and liquid?? Who does this writer think they're fooling. Not me mister.

Chubbys? Ew. Not even in the same league as Jack N Grill. The last time I walked into a Chubbys I saw one of the cooks wiping snot off his nose with his gloved hand! Santiago's is decent because it's hot but it's nowhere near as good as Jack N Grill.

I'm pretty sure they use pork in cooking their green chile, don't they? That is the traditional New Mexican way to do it. The meatless version was created for vegetarians.

Well, I have mixed feelings about this place. I have had some amazing meals here and being from New Mexico I am really picky. I have also had some dreadful experiences mostly involving totally incompetent service and lousy margaritas. Add that to the arrogant owner and you might be better off at Little Anita's

Sorry but I gotta beg to differ here, real chile verde has tender chunks of pork simmered in a flavorful, spicy and slightly thickened sauce. I have tasted Jack and Grill's and while I like buying my New Mexico roasted chiles there during chile season, their green chile doesn't hold a candle to mine.

Yeah right. We went there on Westword's recommendation. It sucked.

This place is gross, gross, and GROSS. I watched a cook melt a plastic bag filled with chicken on the grill. Food was served with plastic and all!

Well....I might have to argue with that a bit. The addition of about 100 pounds of pork roast (OK, not quite 100 pounds), a few tomatoes, a bunch of jalapenos & serranos, and a few spices make green chili a taste treat that's hard to beat. Just reproduced my ex-father-in-law's green chili recipe and smothered a giant burrito with it (one per person)...fed about 15 Colorado friends who come down here in the winter (as do I)and ALL agreed this was the best burrito they'd ever eaten!
