Tokyo street fashion comes to Colfax tonight, when Gimme Gimme Pillow Toast celebrates the end of its two-month residency upstairs at Mod Livin’, 5327 East Colfax Avenue, by throwing a Tokyo Extreme Fashion Show dedicated to the frilly-dress-wearing, fake-tan-and-eyelash-donning living dolls of Denver. Participants in the show will include members of the Colorado Gothic Lolita Society, as well as some semi-famous locals, including artists Samuel Schimek and Sabin Aell and three-piece noise outfit Hot White. “The show is more of a showcase of local people into Japanese Street Fashion and friends who have bought things from Gimme Gimme Pillow Toast,” explains Gimme Gimme’s Andrew Novick. “Ganguro girls wear intense tan makeup with white around the eyes with neon, Hawaiian gear. It’s a wild style that was popular in the ’90s.”

A snack-and-cupcake party — “We’ll be debuting a secret new cupcake flavor that we’ve been working on in our ‘test kitchen’,” Novick jokes — begins at 5 p.m., the costumed runway show starts at 7, and the evening culminates with a photo shoot at 9. All attendees are encouraged to dress up for the pictures, which will be considered for Denver, Japan, an upcoming collaborative book by Novick and photographer Anthony Camera. “At a previous party, Anthony saw some of the Gothic Lolitas and just flipped out,” Novick recalls. “That was the impetus for the fashion show.”
