Every cemetery contains at least a hint of mystery, and Riverside Cemetery is no exception. If you’ve always wanted to know just who is buried there and why they were once significant to our city, then the Riverside Cemetery History & Mystery Night Tour is perfect for you.
“It’s a history tour of Denver through the cemetery, with a little bit of mystery thrown in,” explains Riverside’s Patricia Carmody. “Things like, why is that mausoleum there and nobody’s buried in it? Things along those lines. So it’s not a ghouly, scary kind of tour. It’s the history of Riverside Cemetery, which is directly related to the history of Denver, and the mystery sets around some of the people.”
Call Carmody at 303-322-3895 or e-mail heritage@fairmountcemetery.net to make your reservation for the 4:30 or 5:30 p.m. tour (the 6:30 and 7:30 tours are already filled). Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for kids. Bring a flashlight and dress for an October evening in Colorado; afterward, refreshments will be served. Visit www.fairmountcemetery.net for information.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $21,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
