“The BolderBoulder has become a big Memorial Day tradition for a lot of people, and race morning is always very energetic around here,” says BolderBoulder spokesman Matt Jenkins.
“I was pretty young when the first race came through town, and I watched my dad run it, so it’s been pretty special to be involved with it now and to see it grow and grow throughout the years.”
Grow and grow, indeed: The 33rd annual BolderBoulder 10K will include up to ninety waves of runners, joggers and walkers, with start times on the Pearl Street Mall from 7 a.m. through 9:30 a.m. today. More than two dozen bands will entertain racers and fans at various points along the race route — much of which is new this year — and runners will get to experience the triumphant, traditional finish in front of a crowd packed into Folsom Field.
“It’s become more than just a race,” Jenkins says. “It’s one of the city’s defining events.”
Register online at www.bolderboulder.com (packages start at $45 for adults, $30 for kids fourteen and under or seniors 65 and over), or on race day at 1750 29th Street in Boulder from 5:45 a.m. to 9 a.m.
