With the rise of doggy day spas and boutiques, spoiling our pets seems to have become a national pastime; however, there are still many folks who have a hard time affording medical care for their furry best friends. That’s where the Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital steps in. Harrison keeps low-income pet owners from having to choose between their pets’ needs and their own.

The hospital is supported by generous donations year-round, but its gala event is the annual Mutts & Models party. The 2007 version, being held tonight at the Tivoli Turnhalle, features a vintage Parisian theme, “Muttlin Rouge.” Clad in fashions from Saks Fifth Avenue, models (local philanthropists and media celebs) and their canine companions hit the runway at 8:45 p.m., giving the pampered pooches a chance to help out less fortunate pets.

The Tivoli is at 900 Auraria Parkway on the Auraria campus; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets, which range from $65 to $1,000 for a table of eight, are available at www.blacktie-colorado.com or by calling Harrison at 303-722-5800, ext. 339.
