You wouldn’t believe me if I told you how many reopening dates Hoss Orwat, boss of Big Hoss Barbecue, 3961 Tennyson Street, had projected since his smokin’ hot house of ‘cue suffered a kitchen fire back in June. We’ll call it a half dozen (more or less) and leave it at that, except to say that Friday, August 14, was Hoss’s last prediction, and this time, he got it right.
At 11:30 p.m. on Friday, exactly eleven-and-half hours after Big Hoss opened the big doors, the lights were on, there were butts at the bar and the bartenders were pouring beers for a few obviously happy regulars, one of whom even offered to buy me a Guinness. Sure thing, buddy, especially now that I can get a plate of ribs to gnaw down with it.
