In my misspent youth, I subscribed to the theory that Wednesday, by virtue of being the halfway point to the weekend, was a day to party. The logic may have been spurious, but it did make the week fly by. In that spirit, tonight’s Monolith Madness pre-party is coming to the Larimer Lounge, 2721 Larimer Street, to ease the transition from the six months since the indie-rock superfest into the six months until the next one. To celebrate this auspicious milestone, the bombastic indie pop of Ra Ra Riot — a highlight of the first Monolith fest — returns to Denver. Joining the Riot will be the Cribs, a U.K. cult band with a reputation for being explosive, dynamic performers and a sound that mashes up the Sex Pistols and the Rolling Stones. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Visit www.larimerlounge.com or www.monolithfestival.com for more info.
