There are two basics of summer: sunburn and alcohol. And guests at the Old South Pearl Association and Swallow Hill Music Association’s SummerFest: BrewGrass can indulge in both. The annual outdoor festival celebrates one of those summer fundamentals — beer — alongside its buddy, music. The concert features performances from national and local bluegrass groups, including Greensky Bluegrass, Tony Furtado and the Boulder Acoustic Society; local breweries will provide the booze. “There definitely is love for bluegrass in Denver…due to the fact that we promote the genre more than any other venue in the area,” says Swallow Hill’s Laura McGaughey.
Head for the 1200 block of Old South Pearl (near the Louisiana-Pearl light-rail station) today between 1 and 10 p.m. The entrance fee is $1 per person, and the fest is open to all ages. For more information, call 303-777-1003 or visit www.swallowhillmusic.org or www.oldsouthpearlstreet.com.
