A bunch of new shows this week to get excited about: Death Grips are finally making their way to Denver for a show next month at the Larimer Lounge, Pinback’s coming to the Gothic after the first of the year, and there’s a couple high profile local shows to get amped about. Born in the Flood is reconvening for a holiday show at the Gothic in December and Air Dubai is celebrating the release of its new album at the Ogden with a very special guest. Keep reading to get the full rundown, along with playlists from local radio special shows and this week’s top album sellers.

This Just In: New Concerts and On-Sale Dates

Death Grips, the Sacramento-based envelop-pushing hip-hop act featuring Zach Hill of Hella, which created a bit of a stir a few weeks ago by offering up its supposed major label debut, No Love Deep Web — replete with penis-laden cover art — up for free download, is slated to perform at the Larimer Lounge on Friday, November 23. Tickets ($16) for 16+ show are on sale now.

Pinback, whose new album, Information Retrieved, drops today on the Temporary Residence imprint, is coming to the Gothic Theatre on Tuesday, January 27. Tickets ($18-$22) go on sale this week. Speaking of the Gothic, there’s another big show that’s just been announced, this one all local and easily filed under must-see:

Nathaniel Rateliff has had a pretty successful career thus far, from touring the States with Mumford & Sons to building up a massive following across the pond. Before he earned acclaim on his own as a singer-songwriter, though, he was the frontman of a beloved local band called Born in the Flood. The band, which has been on ice for the past few years, is getting revved back up again for a special holiday show at the Gothic Theatre on Friday, December 21, to remind everyone what they’ve been missing. Nathan & Stephen, another popular on-again, off-again act from that same era, will share the bill with In the Whale.

Another big local show you should be aware of: Air Dubai has finished its new record, Be Calm, and will be celebrating its release with a headlining show at the Ogden Theatre on Saturday, December 15. While that in itself is totally noteworthy, get a load of who else is on the bill: Tone Lōc. Yes, Mr. Funky Cold Medina himself. If that isn’t worth doing the wild thing on our leg, we don’t know what is. Tickets ($20 plus fees) for the show, which also features Supervision, go on sale this Saturday, October 20 at 10 a.m.

Finally, Femi Kuti, son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, returns to the Boulder Theater with his group, the Positive Force, on Tuesday, January 15. General admission tickets ($25) go on sale on Friday, October 19 at 10 a.m.
