There are some movies I can watch over and over again without getting sick of them, but horror movies do not fall under that category. I already know when Michael Myers is going to jump out and frighten the bejesus out of Laurie Strode, and the fact that it really is Halloween doesn’t make it any scarier.
Fortunately, Keith Garcia, programming director for the Denver Film Society, feels my pain. That’s why he scheduled The Gay Bed & Breakfast of Terror to open tonight at Starz FilmCenter in the Tivoli. What happens when a group attending the biggest gay party weekend of the year — including lipstick lesbians, fag hags, folksingers, tomboys, personal trainers and sugar daddies — winds up at the bed-and-breakfast belonging to God-fearing mother-and-daughter team Helen and Luella?
“It’s not that Gay Bed & Breakfast is scary, because it’s really not,” Garcia says. “But it’s definitely ninety minutes of campy fun, perfect for this time of year.”
I agree.
