Reliability. It’s underrated. Who even thinks about a car that starts every time? Until the one time it doesn’t. AC/DC is like that. The band rocks. And that’s all it does. The music isn’t complicated. It’s Phil Rudd’s simple drumming. It’s Cliff Williams’s straightforward bass lines. It’s Malcolm Young’s utilitarian rhythm-guitar riffing. It’s Angus Young’s showboating leads. And it’s Brian Johnson’s yowls, which are better than Bon Scott’s yowls. Because Bon Scott is dead and can’t yowl at all anymore. The band just released Black Ice, a new album. But it doesn’t sound new. It sounds old. And that’s good. Maybe not quite as good as the really old stuff. But good enough. Good in the same way AC/DC has always sounded good. And that’s damn good. The band has an opening act on its tour. It’s called the Answer. But it’s not the answer. AC/DC is the answer. And the answer hasn’t changed. Rely on it.
