Provide-n-ce Gallery, 4325 West 41st Avenue, might look like little more than a hole-in-the-wall around the corner from Tennyson Street, but the cooperative space carries the weight of the world on its shoulders. An ongoing project of Sister Sen Nguyen, a Vietnamese refugee with a daunting past made right after she was reunited with her lost mother in Denver many years ago, it carries fair-trade wares that benefit disadvantaged and disabled women and children in Vietnam. Nguyen is also an artist and, more recently, the director of Bridging Hope, a nonprofit that furthers the philanthropic efforts of her store.

Tonight, Nguyen will host the public Bridging Hope Open House, Art Opening and Tet Celebration, which will include a meet-and-greet with the Bridging Hope board, an exhibit of her own photography and paintings, a dragon dance performed by a Vietnamese youth group to welcome the Lunar New Year, and lots of traditional Vietnamese food. “We Vietnamese like to eat a lot, but we don’t get fat,” Nguyen says with a wink. And if she has her way, there might even be an explosion of Tet firecrackers to top off the festivities.

The party starts at 6 p.m.; for details, visit www.provide-n-ce.org or call 303-477-0309.
