For more than twenty years, Mudra Dance Studio has been bringing Indian dance to Colorado stages with a flourish of colorful costumes and unstoppable energy. The evening-length work GYAAN: Truth Through Knowledge at the Lakewood Cultural Center addresses the numbing effect of violence and unspeakable crimes with a hopeful heart, and includes a live ensemble of musicians, aerial performances and Aurora Poet Laureate Jovan Mays in a spectacle Mudra calls its “gift to the world, a way to give back, remember those lost, inspire the desire for change, and heal together as a community.”

Winnie Wenglewick of Denver’s Dangerous Theatre has an “anything goes” attitude about theater that manifests itself in original works that are sometimes clothing-optional. She kicks off the fall season with a repertory of Jonathan Vick’s exploration of the coming of the apocalypse, set in a diner called Smithereens, and a raunchy sex farce for which audience members can help direct the action by voting on scenarios throughout the play. The final Bite performance on November 23 will present a special show featuring every possible denouement and option used throughout the run; tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are $40. Wenglewick says this is a show you’ll want to see more than once — if it’s your thing.
Arguments & Grievances: Comedy Debates Vine Street Pub & Brewery 10 p.m. Sunday, September 21 Free
Arguments and Grievances has become a time-honored endeavor, pitting a revolving cast of the city’s best comics against one another to debate on topics both ridiculous and sublime. Tonight’s five topics range from “Please vs. Thank You” with Bobby Crane and Kristin Rand to the headliner, “Liberty vs. Death,” with Greg Baumhauer and Chris Charpentier. The laughs are numerous and free; check it out.
