The dichotomy between fire and ice has inspired everything from Robert Browning poems to a 1983 film to prom themes to Copper Mountain’s En Fuego celebration, complete with bonfires and street performers spinning flames in the pristine (if frostbitten) air. And Copper Mountain is really firing up tonight’s En Fuego kick-off, which starts at 6 p.m. with Santa Claus and his elves skydiving into the mountain village to light the holiday tree and continues until 8 p.m. with a torchlight parade, fireworks display and other En Fuego attractions at Burning Stones Plaza.
“It really embodies what the village has going on in the evenings,” says Copper spokesman David Roth. “It’s a great way for people to get out of their condos and experience something new and different.”
