Formerly the Running Wild Band, the members of Big Motif started out while they were in high school as a trio playing blues and blues rock. During the past five years, they’ve morphed into more of a funk jam band, added saxophonist Sam Crowe and changed their name. While all of these cats are still under legal drinking age, they don’t sure don’t sound like it. Frontman Tony Pacello, who was listening to B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan when he started playing thirteen years ago, at age seven, clearly has a firm grasp on the blues. But he also tosses a fair amount of jazz into the mix on most of the cuts on this five-song, groove-laden debut EP.
