When the Earth-orbiting Hubble Space Telescope was serviced by spacewalking NASA astronauts in May of 2009, the Space Shuttle had a stowaway: a camera. The repair mission was being filmed for a new IMAX feature titled Hubble, a stunning documentary narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio that peeks into the inner workings of America’s space program — as well as the outer workings of the galaxy itself.
“There’s an incredible emotional element to Hubble,” says Heather Hope, Public Relations Manager of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. “In the film, one of the astronauts describes the feeling as better than Christmas morning. Seeing this film on the IMAX screen offers unprecedented, awe-inspiring views of the cosmos. The beauty and immensity of our universe is absolutely astounding.”
Hubble is currently at the IMAX Theater for an indefinite run; the theater is located at the DMNS, 2001 Colorado Boulevard. Seats for Hubble are $15, $12 for museum members and $8 for children; for tickets and info, call 303-370-6000 or visit www.dmns.org.
