While we’re pretty much terrified of shrubbery now after Thorin Klosowski’s earlier post on murderous fictional plants, it’s important to remember that even if in movies plants bring certain death, in the real world, they bring life. And tonight on Rocky Mountain PBS, the locally produced documentary Green Up Colorado details just how they’re bringing that life to our fair state.
The documentary takes a look at several facets of Colorado’s “green scene,” (if you’ll permit us that ridiculous rhyming term), from self-contained buildings to organic farming to a school that teaches children how to cultivate the land — the section we’re most excited about, though, is the one highlighting Ietef Vita, one of our 100 Colorado Creatives and our hands-down favorite rapper/producer-who-is-also-an-organic-gardener. We know of no finer. (Vita’s bringing his vision to the streets next weekend with the renewed Brown Suga Youth Fest next weekend, by the way, so stay tuned for that). Check him out above in the section “Hip Hop Organic Gardener” rapping about plants.
Green Up Colorado airs tonight at 9 p.m. on RMPBS.
