It doesn’t take encyclopedic knowledge of the city and its streets to win the Cityscape Adventures Challenge, but it certainly helps. Over the course of three to four hours, you and your team of scavenger hunt specialists will be tasked with solving clues, finding historical landmarks and getting photos to prove you were there.

“We wanted to do a localized, urban scavenger hunt that allowed the use of technology to create a strategy,” says organizer Tony Ghigo. Unlike at many scavenger hunts, participants are allowed to use smartphones to figure out clues, but as is usually the case, knowing the city well is always faster, especially since hunters have to travel by foot or by public transportation; no bicycles, roller-blades, skateboards, cars or Segways allowed.

The race starts today at 11 a.m. at Vine Street Pub, 1700 Vine Street. Entry is $110 for a two-person team or $150 for a four-person family team. For more information and to sign up, visit www.cityscape-adventures.com; use the code “50westword” for 50 percent off.
