It’s hard to imagine anything much more entertaining than watching robots dance and groove to music. But tonight you won’t have to imagine it, because Robot Prom will be packed with costumed humans, real robots, music and plenty more.

“It started as just a robot-themed art show,” says organizer Matt Megyesi. “Then I just started thinking about all the other things we could add.” That idea morphed into something much larger than an art show or even a themed party. Robot Prom now includes not just a central art show with the requisite live DJs, but also demonstrations from Gamma 2 Robotics, a costume contest, a parade with floats, and an after-party at the Thin Man, 2015 East 17th Avenue. “We’re excited about everything going into this,” Megyesi continues. “But the live action robotics and mad scientist are the two things I’m most eager to see.”

Robot Prom starts at 6 p.m. at the Art Salon, 2219 East 21st Avenue; admission at the door is $25 for singles, $45 for couples and $20 for kids, but discounted tickets are available in advance online at www.megarobota.com.
Sat., Oct. 15, 6-10 p.m., 2011
