Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! And also Saturday: Monster Jam visits Colorado this weekend for its 2012 tour, featuring Grave Digger, SpiderMan, Iron Man and Batman (among other trucks) and their drivers, performing their most daring, jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring stunts. But the stunts aren’t the only reason Monster Jam is so popular, explains spokeswoman Erin Burgy. “The drivers stay after the show and sign every single autograph,” she says. “I can’t imagine being part of a sport where athletes sit and meet every fan who wants to meet them. You would have to love what you do a whole lot.”
But the drivers aren’t the only Monster Jammers who love their job. Burgy takes her daughters to the shows and especially likes to watch the free-style event. “I’ve seen trucks go twenty feet in the air and I’ve seen a truck do a backflip,” she says. “They do things like pogos and doughnuts and rolling over things you would never imagine possible with a truck that size. It’s possible.”
Monster Jam performances are this evening at 7:30 p.m. and twice tomorrow, at 1 and 6:30 p.m., at the Pepsi Center, 1000 Chopper Circle. For tickets, $20 to $35, and more information, call 1-866-461-6556 or visit www.monsterjam.com.
