Some people just stand out. Whether their style is cutting-edge, quirky or just well executed, they make you want to know: How do they do it? Because we work for you, dear reader, we’re finding out. Each day, we hit the streets and talk to one person who catches our eye and makes us look twice. Today, we caught up with Grace Foxen, whose granny-print-dress-and-leggings combo struck us as offbeat and incongruous, yet at the same time, classic and unassuming. Find out how she does it after the jump.
Name: Grace Foxen Occupation: Film editor/Sweet Action employee Age: 20
Westword: Where do you get your fashion inspiration? Grace Foxen: I don’t know–from my crazy imagination, I guess. I think up some pretty weird stuff. Where do you like to shop? GF: I usually do most of my shopping at the ARC, sometimes Buffalo Exchange. I like cheap clothes.
Where did you get what you’re wearing now? GF: I got the dress at Buffalo. This belt actually came from an estate sale.
Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $22,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
What’s your favorite article of clothing that you own? GF: So I ordered this dress online from etsy.com, but when it came, it came to me as a this one-piece jumpsuit, which I definitely wasn’t expecting. I love it, though. It’s pretty hilarious.
