DB (also known as DJ DB) is a drum-and-bass DJ, as might be expected from his moniker. Also known as DB Burkeman, he moved to New York City from London in 1989, well before the current explosion of electronic music hit the masses. DB was behind the hardcore breaks club NASA (featured in the film Kids), launched Sm:)e Communications, and, along with DJ Dara, opened Breakbeat Science, one of the most respected labels putting out drum-and-bass today. He’s also released albums under the name Ror-Shak (with partner Stakka) to explore some of the melodic tones that sometimes get lost underneath the crashing drums and throbbing bass lines of most modern jungle, and he’s the perfect selection to headline Jungle Alliance 1.0 with fellow heavyweight Danny the Wildchild, MC Questionmark, Xile, M1D1 and more. They’ll all be tearing down the walls at City Hall on Saturday, August 25.
