If you’re familiar with Fitness on the Rocks — the annual free fitness concert at Red Rocks — then you might have a general idea of what to expect from the OMG! Fitness Concert today at the Denver Coliseum. “I worked at 24 Hour Fitness a long time,” says Alex Chapman, one of the organizers, “and then I started working people out in parks for free for about a year. And I wanted to do something really big and get an event together, but I didn’t want it to be a mud run or a 5k. I wanted it to be totally different.”
Enter a business partner whose specialty is throwing big events, and suddenly you’ve got a fitness concert. OMG! will have the music and the lights — and a lot of glow-in-the-dark accoutrements. Basically, it’s like a fitness rave — but instead of pharmaceuticals, the high comes from the workout.
The day starts with a ninety-minute boot-camp workout from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m. on the main floor, followed by Turbo Kick, yoga and Zumba classes at intervals throughout the day. An all-inclusive pass that gets you access to the boot camp and the other fitness events is $35; for just the Turbo Kick, Zumba and yoga pass, it’s $30. The Coliseum is at 4600 Humboldt Street; visit omgfitnessconcert.com/omg for more information.
