Take a little art, a little comedy, some music and an interview, then throw them all together on stage with a colorful host. Sounds like the golden age of late-night, right? That’s the spirit Onus Spears aims to re-create with Rawlitix.
“This series, it’s everything — all kinds of art and artists. I’m trying to kind of go with a regular talk-show/variety-show format, in a way,” he explains.
Within that format, he hopes to shine a light on Denver’s homegrown talent. “This town has lovely art and lovely artists, and people who are authentically creating work of great merit,” Spears offers. “This show is about me lovin’ on this town. I’m going to love on the town, and I’m going to love on the artists.”
This month’s installment features contributions from comedian Jason Keyes, art from Frank Kwiatkowski, the keytar stylings of Cop Circles and an interview with Westword’s own Susan Froyd. It starts at 9:30 p.m. tonight at Deer Pile, 206 East 13th Avenue, above City O’ City. Admission is a suggested donation of $5; for more info, visit on.fb.me/VwLYFN.
