This morning Dan Caplis, former KHOW radio host, joined onetime colleague Peter Boyles on KNUS 710 AM, where the popular talk-show host moved this summer after being let go by Clear Channel. And Caplis, who’d called in from Florida, wasn’t on-air to chat with Boyles about the surf; he was there to announce that starting Monday, January 6, he’ll be hosting a show on KNUS that will follow Boyles on weekdays from 9 to 11 a.m.

Also on Monday, Boyles’s show, which is beating the competition, will move up its start to 5 a.m., then continue until 9 a.m.

Caplis, who’s been an attorney for thirty years and got into the media through legal commentary, told Boyles he’s interested in pursuing “high-impact radio” at KNUS. “It’s a blessing and a privilege to have a microphone,” he noted. “To speak truth to power.”

After doing television gigs and fill-in radio slots, Caplis and attorney Craig Silverman had a popular afternoon show, Caplis & Silverman, on KHOW for eight years. But in June 2012, Clear Channel, which was in the middle of cost-cutting moves, pulled the plug on the lawyers.
