Sometime during the second week in December, most likely on December 13, Voodoo Doughnut, which got its start in Portland, Oregon and commands lines of epic length for its wacky — and often naughtily named — doughnut combinations like the cock-and-balls, a doughnut oozing with cream, will open its first Denver location, a tutu-pink palace, complete with coffin-shaped seating, at 1520 East Colfax. Portland’s Voodoo Doughnut has generated a following that goes way beyond cult status, and when it opens in Denver, it’s guaranteed that the signature pink bakery boxes, inked with Gothic black skulls, will be the talk of the block. In the meantime, here’s your first sneak peek at the space, the opening of which can’t come soon enough for the fevered masses.
