While he’s often referred to as the only gay Republican standup at the Comedy Works, Denver comedian Chuck Roy is also the host of several “dirty” comedy shows at the venue. His vulgar Christmas shows began as a way for random comics to blow off some obscene steam during the corporate-gig season, but has since branched out into other holidays.
“Nowadays, the show is attracting top joke-tellers — some bottoms, too,” says Roy, whose SHOCK-TOBER program will feature Phil Palisoul and Lisa Landry. “And Santa Claus said he was gonna come by, get drunk and tell some dick jokes. I’d rather spend my days booking drunk Santa than pursuing my childhood dream of being a senator.”
SHOCK-TOBER starts tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Comedy Works South, 5345 Landmark Place in Greenwood Village, and 8 p.m. tomorrow at the downtown location, 1226 15th Street. Tickets are $12. For more information, visit comedyworks.com.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $22,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
