You stop at the bar for a drink and two people begin to dance around you, spinning stellar choreography with light feet and a beautiful twist, under the sky-high rafters of a re-purposed foundry that’s an urban experiment in itself. That’s what will happen tonight at Choreography and Cocktails, a casual collaboration between the dancing team of internationally known Boulder-based choreographer Robert Sher-Machherndl and dancer Sandrine Cassini and the Source, Kyle Zeppelin’s new multipurpose hipster palace in RiNo.
Offering VIP seating at the central CapRock Farm Bar and general-admission standing room, the evening’s pas de deux will unfurl for audiences over spirited concoctions and a buzzing atmosphere. And there’s not much more to it than that, says Jenifer Sher of Sher-Machherndl’s Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet, though the performance promises to be top-notch. “It’s very rare to see Robert perform in this region,” she explains. “And this will be less stuffy than a full-blown show in an auditorium, with people responding to the building, the high-quality art and a little alcohol.”
