Tim Burgess

Led by Tim Burgess, the Charlatans UK were one of the key acts to help resurrect British rock during the Madchester craze of the early ’90s. Their jangly blend of psychedelic rock and dance beats was unique (not to mention catchy as hell), setting them apart from the majority of their peers, who simply rode the Stone Roses’ coattails. Though the Charlatans were primarily a cult band in the U.S., their biggest hit, “The Only One I Know,” remains a staple in indie dance clubs around the globe. In recent years, Burgess has taken to the celebrity-DJ circuit, where he serves as an ambassador of Brit pop and indie rock. He’ll return to Denver on Saturday, December 31, to bring in the new year with the Lipgloss crew at La Rumba.
