After nearly four decades of family ownership and operation, Angelo’s Pizza, a down-home red-sauce on joint on Sixth Avenue, has been bought by a new owner and will close for a two-month-long remodeling job on Sunday, May 26.

Eric Hyatt bought the business on March 1 from the Laveo family, which has owned the restaurant since 1974 — when the late Angelo Laveo opened the doors.
Angelo’s is known for its cozy booths, its stained-glass windows and its old-school ravioli, fettucine, pizza and thick-style spaghetti drenched in a spicy red sauce.
“The remodel will take two months and we expect to be open in August,” Hyatt says in a message. No word yet on whether Hyatt will keep the name, the décor and the menu.
