WINNERS UPDATE: We stopped by Central Bistro & Bar last night, where chef/wrestling fan Matt Selby checked the accuracy of the entries in our WWF Brunch Contest, and chose the winner: Hunter Frederick, who was the first to enter and also provided the most entertaining, accurate answer. But Nick Mitchell, you were a strong competitor, too, and will get a runners’ up prize of two Slim Jim Bloody Marys if you go to brunch this weekend. We’re e-mailing you both with the details. Congrats!

And really, anyone’s a winner who goes to the WWF brunch this weekend. Here’s the original post, with all the details:

Matt Selby just rolled out the latest iteration of the LoHi eatery’s summer menu, which features three new flatbreads and three new pasta dishes — including hand-rolled tagliatelle — that add more appetizer and primi options for guests. “More than anything, we simply wanted to offer our neighborhood regulars some more quick-bite options without upending the current menu,” Selby explains.

And speaking of upending, Selby’s a big fan of old-school pro wrestling, so he’s throwing a WWF-themed brunch bash this Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and September 20, dubbed the Brunch Choke Hold Weekend. Central’s regular brunch menu will get “tossed from the top rope in favor of our World Wide Wrestling brunch menu,” says the restaurant — and that WWF menu will be accompanied by specialty “finishing moves” cocktails. To top off the winning weekend, Sunday night will feature a Tag Team dinner menu along with the restaurant’s all-night happy hour. A portion of the entire weekend’s proceeds will go toward medical expenses for Central Bistro’s bar manager, Ryan Holmes, who is recovering from a recent spinal-cord injury.
