The Egg Shell, Cherry Creek North’s venerable breakfast spot, moved from its original home on Josephine Street to the former Mel’s Bar & Grill space in 2009. The neighborhood seemed to be in decline as a restaurant destination throughout the early part of this decade, but a flurry of new development is now shaking things up. In fact, a new building project — a seven-story office and retail complex — is forcing the eatery out: Owner Peggy Bevan says the Egg Shell’s last day of service at this address will be Sunday, September 27.
The Egg Shell has been in the neighborhood for nearly thirty years; Bevan has owned it since 2004. “I’m sad to be leaving all the customers that have become friends and the businesses that have supported me over the last eleven years,” she says. “It has been a great experience meeting so many lovely people from all over the world. We leave with sadness but looking forward to all the adventures for the Egg Shell’s future.”
Bevan adds that she’s in negotiations for a new location but that nothing has been finalized.
